Truck Driver Crossed Median, Hit Oncoming Cars

BELTON, Mo. – Three people were injured in a crossover crash involving a semi-trailer on Highway 71 near Belton Tuesday evening.

Police said a southbound truck driver lost control of his rig near Highway 58 and crossed into the northbound lanes of traffic, hitting several vehicles.

One of the cars was stuck under the semi-trailer and was pushed across the median, police said.

Pictures from NewsChopper 9 showed firefighters extricating people from the cars.
